What to expect from your Massage Treatment
Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy. The
basic goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to
increase health and well-being and there are many health benefits to receiving massage therapy on a
regular basis. Designed for both men and women, our full body massage therapies
start from £60 per hour.
Usually a massage is 30 to 60 minutes long, not
including the health assessment questionnaire. Here is a typical
massage timeline:
- Client arrives 10-15 minutes
early for appointment
- Completes a contact information
and health assessment questionnaire
- Discuss specific needs or
objectives with your massage therapist
- Therapist will then leave the
room, client undresses and lies under the towels
provided on a massage table
- Practitioner returns to room
when client is ready and begins the massage session
- Half-way through the massage
the client will be asked to turn over on table with help from
the therapist
- Massage ends and practitioner
exits room for client to redress
- Observations are shared by both
parties and goals and treatment plan is formulated for future
sessions
Communicating with Your Massage Therapist
When arriving for the first appointment the
massage therapist will ask you to complete a health assessment
questionnaire. Be thorough and honest when answering questions, some
conditions may be preclude you from certain massage techniques. Your
massage therapist will not want to aggravate a condition so they may
ask you for more information if they are concerned about any of your
past or current health issues. The massage therapist may also ask
you questions related to your stress levels, occupation, lifestyle
and if you have any specific objectives for your massage or
treatment therapy.
During the massage your practitioner will use
various strokes and techniques to help relax and relieve muscle
tension. Let your practitioner know if you are in any type of
discomfort or if you need deeper pressure to be applied. Your job is
to relax and enjoy the therapy treatment as muscles release tension
and stress melts away. Feel free to let your therapist know if the
pressure needs adjusting or even if the music needs to be changed.
