About Our Massage Treatments & Spa Therapies
If you have received massages previously
or are you are preparing to experience your first massage, it is
important that you aware of the different types of massage that are
available.
With some massages the recipient remains fully dressed.
Others call for the recipient to disrobe partially or fully. There are
some massages that are performed with deep penetrating strokes, while
others may use little or almost no pressure at all.
Having an
understanding of these differences will make your massage experience
that much more pleasurable and allow you to get the results you need.
Below you will find some descriptions of the types of massages that we
offer:
-
Swedish Body Massage
The
techniques used in Swedish massage are gentle and rhythmic in
nature. There are five basic strokes, all flowing towards the heart.
These are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. With
Swedish Body Massage therapists will typically use a combination of
kneading, rolling, vibrating, rhythmic tapping movements. This is
usually accompanied by applying oil to reduce skin friction. Swedish
massage can shorten the time it takes to recover from muscular
strain by expelling lactic acid, uric acid and other metabolic
wastes from the skin tissue. This process also speeds the venous
return of un-oxygenated blood and toxins from the extremities.
-
Head Massage
Our head
massage starts by massaging the scalp and temple area. This allows
for good circulation in the scalp and releasing tension. It is also
good for working on headaches and sinus congestion.
-
Lymphatic Drainage
Massage
A
therapeutic massage where the therapist uses a gentle “pumping
technique” that drains away pockets of water retention and toxins
that are trapped in the body. Many consider Lymph Drainage to be an
anti-aging treatment.
-
Deep Tissue / Sports Massage
Deep,
focused massage strokes utilizing all or some combination of
compression, drainage, friction, vibration, and tapotement are used
in sports
or deep tissue massage.

shoulder and neck muscles deserve a massage. For many people, one of
the neck muscles that can become the most tense and painful is the
